About Townshelf

Quality, vetted, from real shops.

Townshelf is a marketplace for independent, physical local shops of every kind, from corner overstock stores to vintage racks to record shops. They sell quality, checked goods nationwide, under their own names.

Why we exist

Bringing back quality, one real shop at a time

The best local shops are run by people who know their stock: what's well made, what works and what's worth the money. But most shoppers only ever find the shops on their own block, and building an online store is a lot of work for a small team.

Townshelf gives those shops a bigger shelf. The shop keeps its name, its story and its customers. We stay in the background, handling vetting, discovery and checkout, and every listing carries the Townshelf Checked mark.

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Mitch.

I spent 15 years at American Express, from 2010 to 2025, working with small businesses. Over and over, I saw how much a good local shop means to its town: the owner who knows what's worth buying, stands behind it, and treats customers like neighbors.

Today I own and run Mega Brown Box, a discount and overstock store in La Habra, California. It's Townshelf's first store, and it's where we work out how shops list, grade, photograph and ship, so every shop that joins gets a process that's already been tested on a real sales floor.

I started Townshelf with one mission: help local shops succeed and compete with big-box retailers. Local shops already have the quality goods and the know-how. Townshelf gives them a way to reach shoppers everywhere, under their own names.

How it works

Three steps, one real shop

01

The store lists it

Shops photograph their actual items, grade the condition and set their own prices.

02

We vet it

We verify every storefront and review listings for real photos, honest grading and safety.

03

They ship it

The shop packs and ships your order from its town. Order from two shops and you get two packages, each with its own postmark.
